I did leave Marriott after almost 14 years and went to a hotel management company. I knew that in order to really grow and expand my career, I needed to maybe step outside of the Marriott bubble, expand my horizons a bit into other brands, other hotel types, other ways of doing business. So obviously talent is priority number one.
And, you know, every morning the generalmanager would come down and he’d read the PNL cause I do the daily report overnight. And that brand in particular, I think is so well suited to that business leisure component. You guys, as you were mentioning, a dozen brands over 80 properties in almost 30 different states.
Second act, I guess was operations and generalmanager. And I was generalmanager at the Omni Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. And, and eventually was selected as generalmanager of the year for Omni Hotels. Every generalmanager wrote a letter to their team to say thank you that we memorialize.
And he even had the president of the brand that we worked for at that time have a personal phone call with me to talk to me about hospitality as a career path. We had to do things different in a way to protect our generalmanager’s time because they were performing in a very different capacity than they were pre covid.
