First-time generalmanager Michelle Scott is flexing her sales and marketing skills to bring Marriott International’s ‘Wild Child’ Moxy to life in its first Australian hotel. We’ve set some high goals in terms of our occupancy level, and we continue to ramp up.
When you have lower operating costs, you can more comfortably offer more competitive rates, winning business and growing your marketshare. Maximising ADR helps a hotel increase revenue without needing to increase occupancy. Creating an efficient hotel is simply good business.
That being said, there are a handful of KPIs for hotel generalmanager which help hoteliers meet the benchmarks set. These KPIs range from the daily operations to financial performance to sales and marketing and customer service. The rate of occupancy is crucial to plan the operations of the hotel business.
So what we would do is we would send customized and personalized emails to our guests from the generalmanager before, during, and after the stay. We are also working to really focus on demand generation and capturing demand and occupancy as it sort of stabilizes and resets to a degree.
This is when our hotels get the most stressed, as far as, you know, occupancy coming in and could uncover, we’ve talked about it before, could uncover some patterns and trends that might have been issues in the slower season, but now have become bigger problems in the summer. We’re gonna express, you know, maybe why that is.
We had to do things different in a way to protect our generalmanager’s time because they were performing in a very different capacity than they were pre covid. So a lot of opportunity out there for occupancy for sure. And I think specifically at OCI Hospitality, we really learned to embrace technology through that period.
Second act, I guess was operations and generalmanager. And I was generalmanager at the Omni Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. And, and eventually was selected as generalmanager of the year for Omni Hotels. Every generalmanager wrote a letter to their team to say thank you that we memorialize.
Uh, so from a priority standpoint, it’s always staying focused on revenue enhancement with the primary measure being, you know, marketshare changes, right?
